Cookie Festival Full of Kids' Favorite Things

Cookie Festival for Kids

Attention all kids: Go to Beaver Creek March 13-15. The Kids Cookie Fest brings you ice cream, ice skating and lots of stuff in Cookie Corner.

If the prospect of a cookie festival doesn't entice you to head to Beaver Creek with your kids this weekend, just know that cookies are just the beginning of the lineup of treats.

Cookie Magazine is teaming up with the resort for the inaugural Kids Cookie Fest, March 13-15.

The fortress of fun takes shape in the form of Cookie Corner, essentially any child's dream.

If cookies alone don't do it for the kids (they should visit a doctor immediately), then making their own snow globes and crazy hats, decorating ski helmets and getting gooey  at the ice cream social are bound to kindle some giggles.

The off-slopes options geared toward kids are sizzling throughout the festival. The Park Hyatt is extending its S'mores Happy Hour from 3 to 5 p.m. each day, so if you haven't tried the free, gourmet marshmallow sandwiches, then this is a prime opportunity. Thursday also features a free screening of "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" and a rail jam open to all intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Friday unfolds with some serious creative dough, including a family scavenger hunt beginning in Cookie Corner, followed by the ice cream social and free tubing for children 12 and younger.

The snow globe and mad hat making will be in progress throughout the festival in Cookie Corner, and we're guessing there's bound to be some cookies nearby - definitely at 3 p.m., when Beaver Creek's magical daily Cookie Time materializes. On Saturday, kids can strut their new accessories at the Mad Hatter ice skating party, free to all skaters sporting a crazy hat.
The Cookie Fest coincides with kid-friendly paid performances at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, including Grammy Award-winning "musician for the little people," Dan Zanes on Friday and the famed Chicago Children's Choir on Saturday.
