Like all good things, Vail Summer ’07 must come to a close. Here’s our guide of the best events Vail has in store for its final official week of summer. Get out there and make some memories!

Make sure to make some time for Vail Jazz Festival’s Labor Day Weekend Party, a fantastic, annual event that features some extremely talented local, national and international jazz artists. Check www.vailjazz.org for performance times and locations.

Monday, August 27: Holocaust survivor, poet and Plum favorite Magda Herzberger will discuss and sign her canon of works at the Bookworm in Edwards (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Or head to the Vail Nature Center for a guided tour of local beaver ponds (7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). Also, make sure to stay up past midnight (see below).Tuesday, August 28: Shortly after midnight, a total lunar eclipse should be visible for 90 minutes, the longest and deepest eclipse in seven years. Later, channel your inner cowboy with the whole family at the Nature Center’s “Bright Stars and Flaming Marshmallows” campfire event (7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.). Wednesday, August 29: Catch the superb, debut film of Russian director Andrei Zvyagintsev "The Return", and some tasty Russian treats at the Beaver Creek Food & Film series at the Vilar Center (7 p.m.).Thursday, August 30: Start your evening with a pick-up game of ultimate frisbee at BMHS soccer fields (6 p.m.). Local celebrity Phil Long covers the classics at his Vail institution, The Red Lion; a must if you haven’t seen Phil this summer (7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.). Or catch pop-rock-jazz explosion The Tiffany Christopher Band at the coolest java-joint in Avon, Loaded Joe’s (9:30 p.m.).Friday, August 31: The Vail Jazz Festival 13th Annual Labor Day Weekend Party kicks off with a performance from local jazz aficionado Tony Gulliza and friends at the Centennial Ballroom (8 p.m.). Free pony rides, fly-fishing demos, music giveaways and more are in store at “Fridays at the Park” at the Park Hyatt, Beaver Creek (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.). Or get your relax on with “Friday Afternoon Pampering” at the Aria Spa & Club. Five dollars will get you a beer or wine, a Chap’s appetizer and a paraffin hand or foot treatment (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.)Saturday, September 1: Beaver Creek is the place to be, with two all-day, extremely entertaining events: The Jeep King of the Mountain mountain bike series, and Beaver Creek Oktoberfest. Get your fill of beer, brats, oompah music and Helmut Fricker, or your fill of high-flying thrills and spills in a truly fantastic race series. Or both! Also, the hits keep coming from the Vail Jazz Fest’s Labor Day Weekend Party.Sunday, September 2: Oktoberfest and Jazz Fest continue. And make sure to clock some time at the Vail Farmer’s Market, which will only return for one more weekend.Labor Day: Make sure to catch the outstanding afternoon performances of Vail Jazz Fest’s talented stars on this final day of the Labor Day Weekend Party. And catch the final installment of the “Grillin’ & Chillin’” series at Vail Cascade Resort, where $30 will get you a grilling class, a food tasting, a cookbook of class recipes, and a beer (or wine) and appetizer at Chap’s.
